When shipping to large trading partners, data – accuracy, completeness, formatting – is everything. Pacejet and SPS Commerce have developed a new integration within Oracle NetSuite to ease the fulfillment process and eliminate the risk of human error by automating the passage of data from one software to another.

Both Pacejet and SPS Commerce have long histories integrating their solutions with NetSuite and the strength of those integrations is what make them the biggest NetSuite partners in their respective fields. However, those integrations will now integrate with each other in an industry-first shipping software-EDI-ERP connection. This is exciting news for anyone whose growth depends on making retail compliance more efficient and accurate through automation.

Pacejet allows shippers to pull order data directly from their ERPs to generate compliant Advanced Shipment Notifications (ASN) and GS1 labels. SPS Commerce offers Fulfillment, its full-service EDI (Electronic Data Interchange – the industry standard for wholesaler-retailer information exchange) solution that enables customers to manage orders from all channels in a single system. These are perhaps the two most important pieces of retail compliance in shipping. However, they are very time consuming when done manually and are subject to the risk of human error.

If your shipping software and EDI are not talking to each other, that means someone is manually transferring and/or matching data between the two and every keystroke is an opportunity for a penalty-inducing error. Even done correctly (especially if done and checked correctly), any manual data intervention is time consuming and a drain on already overtaxed resources. However, it has remained necessary to ensure properly formatted data is transmitted and complete labels are printed. Until now, that is.

ERPs, shipping software, and EDIs are big commitments and it’s important to set each deployment up for success across the organization.
